Moodle

Moodle is a free software e-learning platform (also known as a Course Management System (CMS), or Learning Management Systems (LMS), or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)). The system is designed to help educators create online courses with opportunities for rich interaction. Its “Open Source” license and modular design means that people can develop additional functionality for their Learning Management System. Development is undertaken by a globally diffused network of commercial and non-commercial users.

With more than 49,000 registered Moodle sites worldwide, 2.4 million courses and over 26 million users, Moodle has truly become an Open Source phenomenon.
